The Grav Bike is a type of Grav Vehicle.
Description / Specifications[edit]
The Grav Bike is a small, very fast one person grav vehicle designed for the civilian market.
Hull / Suspension[edit]
An open frame constructed from crystaliron and lightweight composite materials, containing the partially exposed mechanical components. The vehicle has forward and lateral lift surfaces (stub wings) that improve its aerodynamic properties.
- Length: 3.3m, Width: 1.4m, Height: 0.9m.
- Overall Volume: 4.2m³ (0.3 dTons).
- Unloaded Weight: 260 kg.
The overall volume measures the vehicles maximum dimensions. The enclosed volume of the frame hull is substantially lower. The lift surfaces fold against the body (reducing the Overall Volume to 0.2 dTons) when the vehicle is in storage.
The vehicle is fitted with grav lifters and heavy grav modules located within the frame hull.
- Maximum Altitude: up to 0.4 planetary diameters.
Power / Transmission[edit]
A closed fuel cell. The fuel supply is contained within small protected tanks. The fuel cell powers small, powerful ducted fans that provide additional thrust.
Performance[edit]
- Gravitic motion: up to 170 kph.
- Cruise Speed: 330 kph, Top Speed: 400 kph.
- A small avionics suite allows limited (70 kph) NOP flight.
- Duration: 10 hours at maximum output.
Crew[edit]
The crew facilities consist of a single lateral seat mounted on the top of the frame: a passenger may sit directly behind the driver. The seats are fitted with safety harnesses. The driver's position is fitted with advanced controls. A console / heads-up display provides data such as velocity, altitude and component status.
There is no internal storage but up to 0.6m³ of cargo may be stowed externally, typically in panniers and slung bags.
- Cargo Storage: none.
- Maximum load: 160 kg (including passenger) before performance is impaired.
Equipment[edit]
Headlights and running lights. A small (typically 50 km range) communications and navigation system. The vehicle is fitted with proximity sensors, an onboard computer management system and a variety of driver aids.
History / Background[edit]
A performance grav vehicle available in a variety of body styles and colors. The density of the local atmosphere dramatically affects vehicle performance.
