Eli
- This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Parsalax Subsector of Extent Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It forms a part of the Delphic Tract.
- It is a member of the Imohep Cluster.
Binary Solar System
System Data[edit]
Eli System[edit]
The primary is an unnamed ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I-I) Eli, designated the mainworld, and (I-II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (IV) a ringed large gas giant, (V) a small gas giant, and (VI) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Red Subdwarf Subsystem[edit]
The companion is an unnamed dim red subdwarf star lying approximately 615 AU from the primary. It has a luminosity of 0.002 Sols, a mass of 0.104 Sols, and a diameter of 145,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (III) a ringed very large gas giant, and (V) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system – orbital position (IV) is empty. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(I-I) Eli[edit]
(I-I) Eli is designated the mainworld. It orbits the primary at a mean distance of 0.09 AU (13.5 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 14 days 2 hours: it is tidally locked to the primary. The axial tilt is 3 degrees. Eli has a diameter of 6,187 km, a density of 6.40 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.56 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of the primary cause constant geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.13 bar and a composition of 88% nitrogen (N2), 9% oxygen (O2), 2% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the very low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the relatively high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 2 rads per hour. Around 8% of the surface is covered in lakes of liquid water. Mean surface temperature: 45°C. The atmosphere is sluggish and weak weather systems driven by the star work across the globe. The climate is static.
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 120 million km², Land surface area: 110 million km², Water surface area: 10 million km². Eli is a Twilight Zone World. Much of the ice is concentrated on the dark face of the world.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the Twilight region.
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Eli, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and moisture. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cool marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (I-II) (within the habitable zone) has extensive native life, consisting of minute multicellular organisms that can be found in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
