Description[edit]

Devi is a warm, wet planet, slightly smaller than Terra, with a relatively slow rotational period and a dense atmosphere. The world's heavy cloud cover and long nights favored the development of fungus-equivalents over chlorophyll-using plant species.

Most notable among these fungoid forms are the Devi Intelligence, a sophont race consisting of the sessile Intellects and their mobile young, the Shiverbats.

Satellite[edit]

There is one moon, Swami. It has a population of 70 K'kree and a small starport containing a semi-automated redoubt.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This world was first surveyed by the Third Imperium circa 500, although no manned landing is recorded. In 1070, an ambitious K'kree leader scouting Crucis Margin decided to mount a comprehensive planetary survey, and made contact with the Devi Intelligence.

Devi had no technology to trade, and the Intelligence disn't wish to risk ecological damage by allowing the homeworld's resources be exploited. Nevertheless, the Intelligence wanted something only offworlders could provide -- transport to other planets and territory to colonise, or money to buy that territory. The Devi Intelligence thus traded its labour to the K'kree.

Thanks to their small size, psionic senses, and lack of claustrophobia, Shiverbat packs make valued scouts, particularly for jungle, forest, and urban areas that K'kree are unwilling or unable to enter.
