Crew of the Dark Mistress/secret
Remarks[edit]
As part of the crew of the fated Dark Mistress class Yacht, Ken has a tale to tell. His greatest personal shame stems from being rejected by the marine recruiter after he failed his medical screening. His failed enlistment attempt resulted from a borderline psychological profile coupled with a raging drug addiction. The famous academy multi-sports athlete, and member of the fencing team, had been abusing Combat Drugs, to enhance his performance. His addictive personality and depression lead him to taking wild risks and gambling away his inherited fortune. Soon only his ship remained. This is when fate intervened and Mr. Prymm stepped in. Soon he was clear headed and free from addiction after a painful withdrawal. He clings to a youthful appearance and is vain about his looks. He has a secret base in the southern polar region of Tsorva (world), this remote time share chateau is used as a ski resort. The chalet has hot tubs and a fully stocked bar. It is a quiet retreat, to entertain wealthy guests. He has imported surveillance cameras and sound recording equipment, obsolete on most worlds and available for nearly no money, but cutting edge on this world. He uses these to get incriminating evidence suitable for blackmail on those he needs leverage against. Some of the guests are professional entertainers of a carnal sort and experts at getting people to do things against their better judgement. His fireplaces burn imported aromatic woods, and a family of permanent staff make sure the lair is ready when he drops in with guests to impress, wine and dine. A coal furnace underground warms the hot tubs and keeps the interior pleasant enough where clothes are not really necessary. Narcissistic Ken is really only interested in personal advantage. He uses people to those ends.
The good doctor has plied his trades under questionable conditions his whole life. He always envied the clean sterile medical profession, but knew he would never be part of that respectable world. He does what must be done, and has no moral compunctions or ethical restrictions. As this sort of person, Ken has found several nefarious uses for his hard won and mostly self taught skills.
Our spry little engineer, is of course not all that she appears. She is built to serve and is excellent at what she does. She has a child like simplicity and naive curiosity. Yet when her protective protocols are triggered she has no hesitation for ruthlessly and efficiently handing the threat without remorse.
The quiet, unnoticed Mr. Prymm is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. He is in fact a Unity of Sed deep operative. He plays the humble part of a simple servant. He is in fact the mastermind of the entire operation. He runs the whole show. The casino is his way of making people indebted to him. He manipulates the weak willed and forces them to do things for him. He is a powerful psionic adept, trained to the highest levels by the best the Sed minds have to offer. He uses his telepathic gifts to make sure few secrets are hidden, and uses those insights to make sure the house always wins when necessary and that the right people end up owing him. He uses his awareness and telekinesis to deadly effect to protect himself if his ruse is ever discovered. No one alive knows who he really is, and he intends to keep it that way. The crew are disposable pawns in his grand game. He uses their weaknesses to his advantage.
Lance is a stereotypical caricature, in reality he is hopelessly in love with Ken, who he realizes is fundamentally flawed. He can't help himself. He feels compelled to protect him and help him, despite himself. He vainly hopes, one day his tireless service will be rewarded with true love. The endless women are an empty attempt to fill the emotional void. They mean nothing to him and he has no problems accepting their generous gifts.
