At year zero there were only 3 systems known in detail
Other systems were quickly identified but detailing those systems required a level of abstract research that took nearly 150 years to really get going. Of these just 3 were within 4 light years of New Earth
Note that the codes used in the UWP differ slightly from standard Traveller
