The en Sabah family is a dynasty that has interests in many industries on Sapphire and beyond.

Originally scheduled to travel on the Trafilr Sattar, the en Sabah Family transferred to the Union in a change of lading. As a result, a group of about 200 Muslim, Arabic speakers arrived in the New Earth when the vast majority of their compatriots went missing.
This group did not find the influence of the groups that eventually split to become the New Heaven to be at all welcoming while they were on New Earth and so it was that they left en-masse for Sapphire when the first opportunity was presented (in 89)
Having arrived, they founded The Medina and started taming the wild land that is Sapphire.
By 94 the en Sabah family were, through Sabah Media, providing entertainments to the workers on Sapphire, and by 111 they had the largest media and electronics empire on Sapphire. Ten years later they had channels throughout the system.
