Description[edit]
High Command[edit]
The High Command of the Touchdown Space Navy is politically directed by the Navy Office and led by the Fleet's only serving Admiral.
Fleet Organisation and Command[edit]
The Touchdown Space Navy, at present, contains 48 squadrons:
- 4 Space Defence Squadrons
- 10 Close-Orbit Defence Squadrons
- 8 Escort Squadrons
- 2 Troop Support Squadrons
- 16 Patrol Squadrons
- 1 Survey Squadron
- 5 Logistics Squadrons
- 2 Orbital Squadrons
Each of the 4 Space Defence Squadrons is commanded by a Vice Admiral with individual vessels in those squadrons commanded by Captains, as are the two Orbital Squadrons. Other squadrons are commanded by Captains with individual vessels commanded by Commanders or Lieutenant Commanders.
Other Postings[edit]
The Touchdown Space Navy maintains Naval Attaché's at the embassies to most other major states. Such postings are generally held by a Captain if the states navy is larger than that of Touchdown, and otherwise a Commander. The exception is the Naval Attaché to the New Earth Council which is always at least a Captain.
The commandant of the Naval Academy is always a serving Captain and is appointed for a 4 year term.
