Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) were awoken only relatively recently - in 237. The small colony, released in Touchdown, has expanded to about 1300, but they are starting to expand faster than their habitat.
Embryo Theft[edit]
The gene-bank from which the Chimpanzees were awakened had been raided and several examples had been illegally removed. The fate of those embryos is unknown. There was some speculaton that Margar Bio-Engineering had been involved in the theft. No evidence was found and the accusers were bankrupted in the subsequent legal case.
