The Becker Lightblaster is a classic of its time. Manufactured until 278, Becker found that the price limited the volume of sales.
The weapon used an unusual 10 round battery pack that clipped over the back of the weapon - making the unit well balanced but also making the packs unique. Part of the reason for the retirement of the weapon from manufacture was the tendency of those packs to degrade over time. After a decade of use, the pack could have degraded by up to 15%.
The Lightblaster was replaced by the Excalibur, a pack-powered model that was more reliable over time.
