Beyond The Fringe

A term describing any star system lying beyond the range of conventional starships, as opposed to being a part of the Distant Fringe proper.

Description / Specifications

The performance limit of DeVoss-type drives – the so-called Jump-2 Barrier – means that access to such systems requires the use of long-range or X-range vessels. Travelling to Beyond The Fringe systems is difficult and time consuming, particularly with regard to the careful preparation and meticulous navigation required to safely perform a deep-space jump.
