Hiroshi III 'The Wise' was the only Emperor of the Rule of Man to voluntarily give up the throne before his death; he felt that his empire was secure enough to pass on to his successor, and thus abdicated in -2071, retiring to estates on Varward/Old Expanses where he died nine years later.
