Defense, Electronics, Communications, and Robotics is a major business sector of the Distant Fringe.
- The businesses that comprise it operate within Uncharted Space.
General Overview[edit]
A key area is the manufacture and maintenance of all manner of weaponry and armaments, ammunition, military equipment, and military vehicles. It includes the manufacture and maintenance of orbital satellites, stations and platforms. The manufacture of autonomous robots of all kinds, including surveillance drones and heavily armed warbots. The manufacture communicators and larger commo systems, and manage and run communication and data networks. They manufacture sensor systems, personal and starship computer systems, electronic systems and components, and all kinds of technical equipment.

Primary Activities[edit]
Defense is dependent on the need for military weapons and systems designed to operate on land, sea, in the air and in space. Defense equipment includes both personal and heavy weaponry, vehicle and starship weapons systems, defensive systems, as well as personal, vehicular and starship armour. It includes ammunition and power packs of all kinds. Equipment may be built specifically or may be manufactured to be retrofitted to existing equipment, vehicles or spacecraft.

The size of the industry and difficulties with both the use of toxic materials and recycling has led to issues with electronic waste.
