The Zhodani Military is formally known as the Zhodani Consulate Combined Interstellar Forces, and is one of the most potent militaries in known space.

Zhodani Consulate Combined Interstellar Forces

The Zhodani maintain well-trained and supplied armies and navies of considerable size.

The Zhodani Military maintains both a formal, standing army of active service, the Zhodani Consulate Combined Interstellar Forces, as well as a reserve system, the Zhodani Consulate Auxiliary Guard, of auxiliary military forces for call-up upon need.

Nobles and Intendants serve as officers, in most command positions, while Proles overwhelmingly form enlisted rank and file, who mostly serve as combat arms (infantry) and in support roles (logistics, maintenance, etc.).

Lakr Class Corvette

Equipped with ten turrets and armed with a triple sand caster, two triple beam laser turrets, a dual fusion gun turret, four particle accelerator barbettes, and a pair of triple missile turrets, this streamlined cone hull packs some decent firepower without much thought for defense. It has jump 4 and 6G's acceleration, but the load of energy weapons and the massive model 8fib computer reduce its agility.

Plokl Class Escort

1,000 dT - TL 14 - MCr 867.445 A basic escort for merchant convoys and auxiliary vessels, most common in Imperial space rather than the Consulate as piracy and smuggling are exceptionally rare in Zhodani space. Used on the frontier for defence against enemy commerce raiders or criminals operating from bases in the Imperium and other “less developed” societies. The Plokl also regulates merchant traffic from outside the Consulate and carries a fairly large troop contingent for boarding other ships or policing thinly-populated areas. It has jump 3 and 5Gs.

Zhdiak Class Light Destroyer (DL)

4,000 dT - TL 14 - MCr 3,473.979 A very common class of light destroyer for escorting merchant and auxiliary vessels. 4,000 tons is considered to be the minimum size for mounting a viable mixed armament of missiles and beams. The ship also has good screens, and light armor. The vessel is very agile, and has the Jump-3, and 6G performance necessary for following Consular fleets.

Chtierabl Class Transport

10,000 dT - TL 13 - MCr 4,101.998 A typical bulk transporter employed by the Consular Navy (originally designed for the Priantqlovr Drafr merchant corporation). Like most vessels of this company, it has self defense armament and screens, and is well suited for naval service. The ship can easily be modified to act as a fuel tanker, a bulk carrier or regular freighter, carrying 4,333 dT of cargo, fuel or missile magazines. In some vessels, 3,000 dT are reserved for an additional Jump-3 capacity for re-supplying fleets on deep strike operations. It has 3G's of acceleration.

Idlev Class Superbattleship (BH)

560,000 dT - TL 14 - MCr 498,122.5568 (Carried vessels add MCr ~18,068) The Idlev is probably the last of its type, a super-battleship and troop carrier. It is Zhodani Consulate’s ultimate power projection platform. However, naval design philosophy has shifted towards more efficient, smaller vessels dedicated to a specific role, e.g. the Viepchakl’ for pure space combat. The Idlev is even bigger than the Imperium's vaunted Tigress class, and its performance is similar (within the limits of tech level 14). However, Idlev class ships are rarely deployed without significant support, as the are too valuable to risk losing.

Anzh Class Heavy Fighter (FH)

A heavy, streamlined fleet fighter with a triple beam laser turret and a single crew member. It is 6G, fast and agile with most of the cost going to the massive model 7 computer. It is nearly the size of a scout ship, but dedicated to fleet defense.

Iadiadlsiz Class Fleet Tanker (CT)

480,000 dT - TL14 - MCr 174,747.573 A massive, slow Jump-3 tanker with adequate screens and self-defense armament. Its fuel capacity is sufficient to make two consecutive Jump-3’s and to refuel one Viepchakl battleship or one Aatsdivr battle tender, enabling the battleships to make a Jump-3 stand-off raid, or to penetrate enemy territory to a depth of 6 parsecs. Though an old design, it is still perfectly serviceable today as it requires lower tech components than its equivalents. It carries 76,000 tons of extra fuel for distribution. Note that this is additional to the standard tankage to support Jump.

Shianzpla Class Battleship (BB)

300,000 dT - TL13 - MCr 221,441.525 The Shianzpla is an obsolete Zhodani battleship that has been kept in service because of its Jump-4 capability, which very few Zhodani ships have. The Consulate is refitting its remaining vessels of this class with an improved spinal mount, better electronics and screens, although none of these improved vessels have been recommissioned yet. The Shianzpla is unsuited for fleet operations due to its low acceleration. It is usually deployed in specialized "deep raid" missions, when its comparably high Jump capability is called for.

Kefchenzh Class Armoured Cruiser (CA)

52,000 dT - TL14 - MCr 42,711.392 An old, but serviceable cruiser, designed during the Third Frontier War and a mainstay of Consular Fleets for over a century. The design has been upgraded several times (this data is for 3rd Flight, first launched 3462.2; a 4th Flight will feature improved sensors, computers and screens). Unlike modern cruisers, the ship has a PA main weapon instead of a meson gun. While less effective against heavily armored vessels, the PA is useful against typical opponents, such as the Imperial Ghalak class, which have only moderate armor. Secondary armament follows current Consulate doctrine, with lots of missiles being supported by laser and energy weapon turrets. The ship has powerful screens and defensive weapons, making up in part for the mediocre armor protection. These vessels are combat units and do not, as a rule, carry many troops though they can support ground operations.

Vrapkenchkinj Class Light Battlecruiser (BC)

56,000 dT - TL14 - MCr 41,408.952 The Vrapkenchkinj class "Large Light Cruiser" is an outstanding example of a design philosophy that emphasizes striking power over staying power. Its meson gun spinal mount packs a tremendous punch, but the ship has only minimal armor and very little in the way of secondary armament. Analysts predict that such a vessel could be successful against large fleet units during the initial stages of an engagement, but could hardly survive a prolonged battle against a balanced force.
