The Hivers have a number of traditional timekeeping units, but few non-Hiver use or understand them. The following units are standard throughout the Federation:
The Hiver day is also known as a Cycle, and is roughtly equivalent to 30 standard hours. (actually 30 hours, 2 mintues, and 31.056 seconds). Each Cycle is divided into 6 intervals, roughly equivalent to 5 standard hours. Smaller time units exist.
The Hiver year consists of 142 Cycles, or about 179 standard days. For practical purposes, two Hiver years equal one standard year. The Hiver year is not divided into months, and they days are simply numbered from 1 to 143 to distinguish them.
