History & Background (Dossier)
Yadro lost nearly three quarters of its population to Virus in 1130. Most died of starvation or in the succession wars that followed. In a rare case of collective human reason triumphing over individual stupidity, the surviving warlords decided that more could be accomplished by banding together than by fighting each other till they ran out of weapons.
Under the leadership of the Iron League, the fighting ended, public services restored, and technological regression halted and reversed. Contact was maintained with Kaggushus during the darkest days of the Collapse by a pair of local free traders that survived the onslaught of virus.
Yadro has a functioning democratic government, and has managed to attract enough trade to begin restoring its old technology. Local population levels still lag behind its Antebellum max, however. The world is too far away from the Hub Worlds (HW) for its join as a formal member, though the Hub Worlds Navy patrols its system and act as a de facto defense force.
Of much more interest to prospective HW merchants are the world's liberal starship registration and licensing laws, which has enabled many operators avoid paying higher taxes and being subject to more onerous Hub World regulations. There has been some talk of using the world as a jumping off point into the rest of Kerr subsector, but the dead worlds of Selenopod and Thallium are hindering the execution of such plans.
