Plunge is a poor, industrial, high-population desert hellworld, with a billion or more sophonts struggling to survive in a inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
- This world has no free-standing water.
- As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the The Narrows Subsector of Corridor Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This world has an Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- It also has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.

Description (Planetology)
The name Plunge was given not in honor of this world's oceans (it has none), but because it stands at the head of the great Ushamla Main that spreads commerce coreward of the Great Rift.

Many of the planet's eight billion people live in tunnels hollowed into the planet's crust.
- Trade has brought great wealth to Plunge, and the businessman are the leaders of the government.
- Their powers are dictatorial, but they have the respect of their underlings.

Plunge, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of three members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
