A world in Far Home Sector in the Distant Fringe. It is the homeworld of the Acara.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Vensul, the system primary, is an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a family of three rocky worlds and a few minor asteroids following eccentric orbits. The inner and the outer planets are balls of cratered rock with trace atmospheres. Carasan is the largest world within the system and the only one to retain a complex atmosphere. It is also the only world that retains satellites.

Carasan and its close twin moons, Salacor and Murit, orbit Vensul at a mean distance of 0.7 AU. The planet is a medium-sized body with an above average density and a surface gravity of nearly 0.8G. It is geologically active and volcanoes and earthquakes are common. The world is abundant in metals and minerals of all kinds.

Carasan has a nitrogen-oxygen atmosphere containing significant traces of argon and carbon dioxide. It is rated as standard, with a mean surface pressure of 0.8 bar. It has oceans of liquid water that cover nearly 75% of the surface. The largest continent sits directly under the northern pole: the remainder of the world’s land area is made up of sub-continental islands and long archipelagos. The star and the moons cause huge oceanic tides, with average tidal ranges exceeding 10 m. The climate is generally cool and temperate, with temperatures averaging around 8ºC. There are extensive polar icecaps with glacial offshoots extending into the temperate zones.
