Ian Douglass MacArthur, fourth son of Prince Colin VII and Princess Laura (Barness Kingsloch).

Ian never, ever expected to rule. No fourth child of a Caledonian monarch had ever reached the top of the order of succession during his lifetime before. It would only happen once more in recorded history.

Ian served in the Royal Caledonian Expeditionary Service, first as a scout officer, then (after a term at the Royal University of Caledon as a research director. He only left his post in 122, when he became second in line to the throne after Stuart's death and Morris' incapacitation. He served on John's privy council until John's health issues placed him on the throne.

Most of the action during Ian's reign was in the private sector; the policies of his fathers and brothers had turned Caledon into a powerhouse. Raids from Reavers and other pirates caused a minor crisis in 133-136, but decisive employment of the Navy resolved the problem.

His fifteen years on the throne were productive ones for the Principality; he left the throne in 144, serving for several years as lord regent of the University.
