The Chancellor of the Moot (also known as the President of the Moot) is the presiding officer over Moot proceedings while the Imperial Moot is in session. The Chancellor is always a senior Imperial noble and member of the Imperial Peerage who is also a member of the Imperial Moot body and is an internally appointed position with the Emperor's approval.
- It should not be confused with the Chancellor of the Palace, the head of the Office of the Palace.
Description
The de facto leader of the Moot is the Chancellor of the Moot, a high noble and senior member drawn from its ranks whom the Emperor feels he can trust. The Chancellor has special privileges and access to the Emperor. The Chancellorship is a much sought-after position and is usually a lifetime appointment.
