A defunct polity once found in the Gateway Sector. It was the predecessor to the Hochiken People's Assembly.
History and Background (Dossier)
Lying along the coreward border of Gateway, the Hochiken Republic was established in 425 after a series of workers' revolts overthrew the Vanadian Cartel the previous year.
Beginning as a democratic and representative interstellar government, the Republican state apparatus was deposed by a military coup in 590. The state was renamed the Hochiken People's Assembly.
Government & Politics (Leadership)
The Hochiken Republic was characterized as having a high degree of centralization, which set uniform policies that directed the entire multi-system state and disregarded local/planetary differences. The Hochiken Republic was classified as a Republic, a form of a Unitary State.
