The Gyro Cadis class Subsidized Merchant is a mercantile starship.

* It is a civilian ship and a Subsidized Merchant.

Description (Specifications)
While the typical Type-R is constructed within a TL:10-12 paradigm, the Gyro Cadizes are built to TL:13-15 standards and are considerable improved over older models and classes. They use improved winglets, a tougher reinforced hull, and modular ship computer components ahead of their time. The old cockpit / bridge has been reinforced with better interfaces as well.

History & Background (Dossier)
The first Gyro Cadis-class rolled off the assembly lines in the year 452, a product of GSbAG engineering and Ling-Standard Products electronics. They were widely sold in coreward space including the Vargr Extents. The Octagon Society was known to have purchased quite a few before many of their assets were later repossessed or bought at auction by the Travellers' Aid Society. Due to their preponderance and their similarities to earlier models of Type R class Subsidized Merchants, a significant number were converted into Q-Ships.

Due to their widespread use among Aslan, Vargr, Humans, and others, one can find such vessels in almost any role from subsidized merchants on one end to converted corsair vessels on another... to even one more counter in the form of Q-Ships. They also are often pressed into Auxiliary roles for local nobles and fleets.
