#REDIRECT Type A Trader#Deep Trader
Deep Traders or Long Traders have either larger J-3 or faster jump engines (also known as Fast Traders), or have less powerful J-2 jump engines with fuel for multiple jumps.  They are specialized to hit hard to reach markets.

* The Supraclass designation is also known as Ship Mission, Ship Mission Code, Mission, or Ship Hull Designation.

* It is a starship supraclass.

Description (Specifications)
The Long Trader or Deep Trader is another, rarer, variant of a free trader. Built for areas of low stellar density, deep traders are either jump-3 capable (a.k.a. "Fast Traders"), or are jump-2 capable with extended fuel range for multiple jumps. The Craft Type Code assigned to this class is A3 (or occasionally in the latter case, A22). Since these ships are generally custom-built or produced in low quantities, no standard example exists.

Basic Supraclass Definition: THE FAR TRADER: The basic ship involved in free trade is called the free trader. Variations on the basic ship have resulted in variations in the name.

The subsidized merchant, partly because of its size, and partly because of its subsidy, is called the fat trader.

Some well-equipped high-G traders employed beyond the Imperial border are called fast traders. The type A2 far trader derives its name from its jump capability: its drives are capable of Jump-2, twice what the standard free trader can do. The far trader can be encountered anywhere in the Imperium. It ranges far and wide, and deals with every world it finds. Even amber zones and red zones are not considered off limits by its captains, provided there is profit to be made and the risk of being caught is slight.

Fast Traders or Deep Traders are typically optimized for J-3 to J-4 FTL travel. Clippers and many kinds of Jumpliners are also optimized for high FTL trade and profit keeping.
