Asashluu is a fluid world with an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Asashluu, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Gaas.

History and background[edit]

Asashluu is the most important of the cluster of scout bases in the Old Suns subsector, acting as a coordinating centre. The base (which is the size of a moderate town of 50,000 Inhabitants, sealed and partially underground) houses large number of records on the IISS operations and activities in the Vland Domain and is second only in importance to the scout way station at Lenashuuk (Dagudashaag 1640).

Asashluu is also a crucial training ground for new recruits to the service and a technical evaluation of equipment designed for atmosphere types A to D. Although not on the official X-boat route the IISS maintain a relatively large pool of vessels of all types found in the service.
