Structurecomp or Structural composite is a generic term for a medium quality structural material with the properties needed for many civilian applications. It is usually a honeycombed or foamed core of metal and/or ceramics, spray-faced with synthetic fibers to provide an extremely high tensile strength on both sides, with corresponding stiffness. The outer face is then sprayed or dipped with a similar fiber matrix in a smooth carrier to provide a mirror-like finish. For applications like vehicle bodies, all layers are dyed the same color if possible, to minimize the visual effect of scratches or other minor damage.
