Edit discussion (Aug-2018)[edit]
There are some dubious claims on this page.
- "The Domain also administers part of Reft Sector that is on the trailing side of the Great Rift."
This claim is repeated on the Reft Sector wiki page, but I can't find canon support for it in any of the listed sources. Does anyone know a source for this? I suspect it is non-canonical.
- "It is one of the oldest domains within the Third Imperium and predates all the way back to the Vilani Imperium and the Ziru Sirka."
I can find no support for this in the listed sources, and it is flatly contradicted by MT:IE (and other sources) "During the Pacification Campaigns, Emperor Artemsus divided space into six regions, labeled them domains, and appointed an archduke over each of them." Since "domains" are an Imperial governmental construct, they can't predate Artemsus's action establishing them. I think this line should be deleted.
- "Im Derisumir" links to a place holder page "House Derisumir".
As far as I can find, the only reference to Derisumir is T4:M0C. If there is no other "House" member, that page will never be populated. In addition, GT:Nobles states flatly that "... the [Tauribi] dynasty has held the archduchy without interruption ever since [inception in 76]." The easiest way to reconcile T4 and GT is to assume there is no "House Derisumir" and that both Lukhirigaasa and Im Derisumir are in fact members of House Tauribi. I think the Im Derisumir link and House Derisumir placeholder page should be deleted.
- "This domain once held territory is the following areas:
- Provence Sector
- Windhorn Sector"
I can find no canon source for this. This article seems to be conflating the Domain of Vland which never extended into those sectors, with the Ziru Sirka which did.
- Page numbers have recently been added to MT:IE source seem to be wrong. p 22 makes no reference to the Domain of Vland.

Hi Vegas,
We now use three kinds of citations. It hasn't always been so good:
- INLINE CITATION: {Page cite|name= High Guard |page= 19 |version= Classic Traveller}}
- INLINE CITATION: {Unpublished cite|author=Maksim-Smelchak}}
- END CITATION: {Ludography cite |name= Research Station Gamma |page= TBD |version= Classic Traveller}}
Two requests:
- Please sign your name using four tildes.
- Please find me at CotI and we can discuss at length if you like.
I believe that those citations/claims came from MegaTraveller and T4. They might also have come directly from Marc Miller. I have a semi-regular phone call with him as we document his OTU wishes at the wiki here the best I can. I don't recall off the top of my head.
I see that the Reft claims might have come from Rancke or Dan Corrin so that means that GURPS Nobility might also be involved. It's hard to juggle all of the editions. It looks like I didn't personally input that data. The oldest domain back to Ziru Sirka comment comes from Vilani Megacorp notes, some only partially published, and likely HIWG. There are numerous plot conflicts and other problems. We just do the best that we can. It's often a pain, but I enjoy discussing it with other fans like you and trying to find compromise the best we can.
Thanks for your hard work here.

PM sent to you and Tjoneslo. Regarding the latest changes, 1) I tried to conform my formating to yours (and formatting that I observed on another page.) 2) I don't think there is enough information for a wiki page for both the Battles of Aakgar. The first battle has a grand total of 11 words (one sentence) devoted to it in T4:M0C. Instead, I think it would be better to have both of those links re-direct to the Vilani Pacification Campaign. That way we have enough information together to justify a wiki page. 3) Sources/footnotes are redundant now that I have put inline stuff. I hope someone can look at it and fix it. I am reluctant to delete anything.
I think you are right about: "Im Derisumir" links to a place holder page "House Derisumir".
- Please fix if you know better.
- Half my goal a few years ago was just to get the ball rolling so that more knowledgeable folks like you could make what I continued better.
- After all, I didn't start it, I just helped keep the momentum...

Note to draft; Major Historical Events Timeline has gotten too long and includes minor items. Will come back and cull the list and add in the body a Meta-History that lists the sources of other that occur in the Domain. Vegas (talk) 03:08, 7 August 2018 (EDT)

Smelchak Notes (2016)[edit]
- All of the sectors in this domain are complete.

Smelchak Notes (2016)[edit]
Completed - January 2016.
- Some of the older sector entries need updating to show up on the domain count. Probably Dag or Gush.

History of the domain of Vland (2018)[edit]

Reft sector administrated by the Domain of Vland? (2018)[edit]
From the Gateway to Destiny, p 39. This is in a discussion of the Domain of Gateway:
- Further, astrographical considerations make it impossible to administer the cluster of Imperial worlds in the Glimmerdrift Reaches sector. They are thus considered to be part of the Domain of Sylea, and administered from Delphi.
Thus the idea of a separated part of a domain being administered from another sector/domain in is canon.
From The Great Rift boxed set, Book 2: Reft, p. 110:
- The part of the Reft Sector beneath the claw has no sector fleet as such, just a small detachment under the flag of the Verge Sector Admiral.
This would imply the subsector of the Reft Sector below the rift is under the administration of the Verge sector, hence part of the Domain of Ilelish.
Source of the quote is Library Data (N-Z) p. 7:
- Because the sector system is rigid and geometrical, it is sometimes less than perfect in dealing with the real universe, and the lmperial government makes appropriate adjustments. For example, the Reft Sector lies astride the Great Rift, splitting its major population areas into two distinct regions. The rimward section has closer ties to the center of the Imperium, and is administered through the Verge sector; the coreward section is more colonial in nature, and is administered through the Deneb sector. A similar situation exists in Corridor, where the rimward section is administered through the Vland sector.
