It was heavily influenced by the so-called [[Mantlerist]] movement, declaring universal freedoms, personal liberty, and principles of social care as the underlying foundations of the state. The ordinary citizens had a strong dislike of privilege and throughout its existence there was internal friction with land-owning [[Fives]].
