The Marquis of Gemid is the herediatry ruler of Daama (Vland 1904), a quiet non-industrial planet jump-2 from the Imperial border. The Marquis' weak rule over the system together with a gas giant and a class B starport, make Daama a haven for smugglers.

Historically, the Marquis of Gemid rules the area including all the worlds within jump 2 of Gemid (Vland 1903), but during the Long Night these worlds regained their independence, and the ruling power of the marquis ended. The current title Marquis of Gemid is an anachronism that the rulers of Daama reinstituted for themselves several hundred years ago.
