The "launch 4 missiles then attack" ambush scenario, in game mechanics, consists of the Underfighter launching 1 missile per round for 4 rounds (which missiles do not expend Thrust or start their 5 round countdown to reduce strength during this period), then rising from cover and closing to Adjacent range in the same round that the 4-missile salvo finally attacks.
