Trerz (world)
Trerz (Ktiin'gzat 0819) is the less-frequented "last stop" to cross the Mikikuma Nothingness. The favored stepping stone world of Arure (Kiin'gzat 1017) sees more traffic. Though TL-10, this edge world lists only thirty sophonts as local citizens. The Naval Base constituting the majority of the Downport with a few etched landing zones outside the base fences are not included in the census because of the high turnover of base staff. The only civilian structure serving visiting starships is the Restaurant at the Edge of Nothing named so for both the Mikikuma Nothingness and for the "nothing to see here" rebuffing of the military staff at the gates to the base. In order for the Class A Starport to function for a civilian starship, all thirty citizens of Trerz must stop what they are doing and see to the paying Captain's needs. Many services that are not repairs or overhauls are relegated to "self-service" tasks taken up by crews. This of course lowers the fees demanded by the Restaurant for berthing though refined L-hyd fuel is still expensive.
The Thin and Tainted atmosphere sets the backdrop for the airlock entries to all buildings. Even so, most sophonts are married to their Combination Filter/Respirator masks. The sandstorms coming from the tropics are fierce though the mainworld is not a true Desert world. However, the food is given special preparation and is touted by the military staff who are willing to pay for more than military fare usually consumed.
Historical[edit]
Trerz is only noted for it being the first world encountered when crossing the wide rift now known as the Mikikuma Nothingness. The exodus of escaping Vargr named this world with the same outpost mentality of an oasis or caravanserai as they migrated coreward and trailing to escape the infectious Wolvesbane Project. Today, in 1105, the mainworld is but a stepping stone for naval forces and barely noticeable to civilian traffic.
