The Rocky Shores incident. In 1103 Imperial Marine Private Zharon Zcar was killed in a pirate suppression operation on the border between Zhodani and Imperium space. Her remains were escorted home by a small contingent of Imperial Marines who wished to honor her sacrifice and present her parents with a folded flag and perform ceremonial duties related to her service at the funeral.
The group arrived with the coffin and were met at the train station at Rocky Shores by the local militia. The militia ordered the marine officer in charge to surrender the coffin containing the remains of Private Zcar to them and leave the planet. In keeping with the tradition of the marines, they refused and a short firefight ensued. The Marines were able to seize control of the militia vehicles and building without killing anyone. They performed a very impressive ceremony which moved the local population deeply. The imperial flag from her coffin was then presented to Pvt. Zcar's parents who were very grateful to the Marines for making such an effort on behalf of their ethnically Zhodani daughter.
