Tanzak's Plague
Tanzak's Plague is a rare but virulent proto-virus.
Description / Specifications[edit]
It is transferred in body fluids (sweat, saliva, etc) which causes a gradual increase in the body's sensitivity to allergens. This leads to a 'dormant' period of between a week and a month, depending upon the host's immune system. At the end of the period the host has become hyper-sensitive to one or more commonly occurring allergens, resulting in massive anaphylatic shock and death unless immediate medical treatment is given. The host becomes infectious between 12 and 24 hours after infection, and remains so until cured.
History & Background / Dossier[edit]
Named after Dr. Shamir Tanzak who discovered it.
The proto-virus is easily detected by testing and is treated with a two day course of anti-prion medications. However a host with a long dormancy period and no evidence of infection can contaminate many others, causing short but lethal outbreaks. The most recent outbreak was on Khaguu (Dagudashaag 0535) in 1113.
