System Defense Boat	SDB	TBD	Most system defense boats (SDB) range in size from 100 to 5000 tons and are constructed at all tech levels from 8 to 15. There are hundreds of different types, depending upon the specific mission for which they are designed. Moving SDBs from system to system can be a problem. Although Some types have jump packages which can be fitted to the craft to provide jump capability, the usual method is to transport them in large bulk cargo containers. This method, of course, is not recommended if immediate combat is expected at the destination.

Heavy System Defense Boat	HDB / HSDB	TBD	Heavy System Defense Boats (HSDB/HDB) range in size from 100 to 2400 tons and are constructed at all tech levels from 8 to 15. There are many different types, depending upon the specific mission for which they are designed. HSDBs are both a type of SDB and a type of Very Light System Defense Vessel (SDV).
System Defense Vessel	HDV / SDV	TBD	Light System Defense Vessels (HDVL/SDVL) average in size from 2,400 to 10,000 tons with Very Light versions overlapping with Heavy System Defense Boats in the 1,000 - 2,4000 ton range. They are constructed at all tech levels from 8 to 15. Standard/Heavy SDV's range beyond 10,000 tons and are similar to a type of Light Monitor with a much higher tactical mobility and longer-range responsiveness.
