I love the plague lands concept, the source of the moniker of course is a problem. Are the radiation levels very high due to a variable pulsar emitting concentrated gamma bursts, are the planets coated in a terraforming nutrient precursor for later harvesting, which possesses powerful mutantagenic properties?
