Both into a rift behind “the Claw” this very cold planet is inhabited by a very long lived non carbon based life. The Sulliji are a Pentapodal Spider like sophont - about half the population is over 1800 years old. Their history is well known, and they have no issue revealing that they are a successor race to a carbon based life who 10,000 years previously were facing the star turning into a giant, and in a desperate move created an analog that could survive in a Titan like planet at the edge of the system.
The Sulliji have developed slowly, but with contact with the Imperium have a TL11 at the moment, and further technical exchange has some local ability to develop 12-13. The race is both has a curiosity, but also has a very alien cognition, where cultural development is considered even more important than technological. Also with functional immortality, with only accident being the main cause of death, have a very long horizon.
Their birth rate is entirely within their control, and they work hard to maintain about 200,000 population level. It is not lost on them that over half the population is older than the Imperium itself. Which gives a very philosophical attitude. They relate to Droyne in a way that puzzles most sophontologists.
There are rumors of an achievement of TL21 on the world in the distant past. The natives deny they every achieved that, but the ruins on some inner planets has some adventurers looking for clues. The local authorities take a dim view of such adventure.
