Regarding the use of maritime terminology for Traveller vessels:
- In Traveller, a "Ship" is defined as a Jump-capable vessel (exclusively).
- In History, a "Ship" is defined (explicitly) as a vessel with three or more masts.
Historically, a "Brig" was defined as a vessel carrying only two masts.
Preserving the historical precedent, a Brig is best defined as a vessel that is non-Jump capable. Compared to Sloops, the Brig should have a narrower size range but otherwise lie in the upper tier of the Sloop size range, perhaps slightly exceeding it. It should perhaps be somewhat less agile than the Sloop, but better armed.
