Outbound Run
The Outbound Run is a sporting event sponsored by LifeTech Corporation that takes place in the Zaamish (Dagudashaag 2536) system.
Description[edit]
Competitors race from Zaamish to each of the system's three gas giants, and return the the main worlds. All competing vessels are placed into one of six categories based upon drive performance. All entrants are subjected to thorough examinations before starting. Competitors must collect flags from corporate ships waiting at the gas giants in order to prove they have completed each leg. The purse is MCr1, although the winner often earn far more from advertising deals and celebrity trivee appearances.
History & Background[edit]
The event appears to have originated with competitive fueling runs and is of great antiquity, apparently dating to the days of the First Imperium - the rules refer to the Uugmu Khimad system, the archaic name of Zaamish. The modern Outbound Run dates to no earlier than the 800s.
The Outbound Run receives Subsector-wide coverage.
