A unit of length originally used on Terra and still used by some stubborn Solomani into the modern Imperial era. The mile does persist in Imperial measures as a relic within the UWP, as the Planetary Size directly converts to thousands of miles of diameter.
A mile converts to Imperial metric as well as other archaic units of measure as follows
One Mile = 1609 meters.
A mile is divided into 8 furlongs of 220 yards (approximately 200 meters) each.
Each yard is divided into 3 feet (denoted as 3').
A cube 8'x8'x8' is one Traveller displacement ton for shipbuilding purposes.
