Description (Specifications)[edit]
The lowest form of reward for gallantry in the Imperial Armed Services is a Mention in Dispatches and is generally considered to be a great honour. When a superior officer (normally the commander) sends their official written report of an operation back to headquarters, certain specific individuals who performed particularly noteworthy or meritorious actions during the combat action will be named along with a description of the specific actions they performed. This mention then becomes a permanent part of the official record of both the specific battle and the history of the Imperial Armed Forces more generally. Such Mentions in Dispatches are recorded in a serviceperson's official service record and the service person will receive a certificate specifying the mention. While Mentions in Dispatches do not have a specific ribbon or medal associated with them, recipients may wear a pin or device on the appropriate service ribbon on the Exemplary Service Cluster or on the ribbon of an associated service medal.
Mentions in Dispatches may be influential in regard to future decisions concerning promotions or service-requests.
