The Melbourne is a hypersonic transport that takes off and lands vertically using deflected exhaust from high bypass hydrogen-burning turbofansfor lift Turbofans are also used to transfer to level flight and climb to 20 kilometers, where fusion rockets are ignited that propel the transport into a suborbital arc toward its destination. The transport reenters the atmosphere gliding toward its destination. The turbofans are restarted when speed drops below Mach 1 The transport gradually changes over to vertical flight and lands on a city center landing pad.
