Manticore (world)/secret

Manticore-3 arcology is located on top of its associated mining tunnels, which has reached a depth sufficient to encounter a metallic sphere just over a kilometer in diameter (estimated). Initial tests were inconclusive, but some prisoner-scientists believe it is made of post-transuranic alloys, or PTUs, which would be ultra-high-strength alloys made using stable isotopes of very large atoms.

The presence of this sphere is believed to be responsible for the unusual amount of latent psionic ability in the population of Marticore-3 in the last few years. Basic psionic training has been initiated by the population to train and control this new well of talent. The sphere and the psionic population are kept as careful secrets from the corporation.
