John Fitzhugh MacArthur, eldest son of Morris and Alison Macarthur.
Broadly known as "John the Stupid" to Caledonian history, John VI acceeded to the throne in 303 with the death of his father.
A fatuous and degenerate playboy, John spent much of his teens and early twenties cavorting about the Principality on one family yacht or another - but took the time while studying at Saints College in Caledon to develop a long-lasting emnity with Clan Fitzwilliam of Sloughcaldy, especially his college classmate Gordon Fitzwilliam. The rivalry started over a woman - Ann Carraigh, a young and fast-rising Gheldaght professor whom many modern historians believe had seduced both young men for political and social gain. The rivalry then proceeded to a different woman, Sheila Munro, a classmate of MacArthur's younger sister, before proceeding to much bigger and weightier things.
This emnity led to considerable friction, and eventually violence, between friends and eventually retainers of both men.
When John acceded to the throne, he used political influence and power to attack Fitzwilliam and his clan. This led many nobles to take up sides, for or against John.
After merely six years in power, John's brothers William and Simon engineered a removal from the throne - but the damage had been done; noble clans allied with Fitzwilliam and Macarthur squared off in the First Civil War, which was the dominant feature of William's reign. He died three short years after leaving the throne; historians believe he died of a drug overdose.
