James II
 Sovereign Prince
of the
Principality of Caledon
Incumbent
Assumed office
-315
Preceded by William I
Succeeded by Colin I

Born -327
Died -300

Born James Angus Hall in -365, eldest son of William I and Princess Karine.

While is father, William I, was broadly regarded as a brutal, thuggish man, James II was a much more cerebral monarch. Installed into the throne at age 12, he was guided by his mother as well as his regent, Nigel Renfrew, until age 17, when he boldly stepped out as very much his own prince.

He was especially well-read in the lore of the various explorers that were advocating expanding Caledon's frontiers - and was a firm proponent of the jump drive program started by his long-dead predecessor, James I. And in -312, he launched the first successful manned interstellar Caledonian colonization mission, sending 3,000 settlers to the relatively nearby Stuart system (in an effort that turned out to be ill-fated). James II also established what soon became the Royal Caledonian Expeditionary Service, in -305.

James died at age 27 in the crash of a sub-orbital transport craft, leaving his younger brother Colin to the throne.
