DEADHEAD were formed just after the end of the Fourth Frontier War by Jonas Shanks a washed up ex scout who spent too much time alone out in the black, a notorious drunk (his favourite tipple being the equally notorious "Old Dog") Shanks is famous for his shocking onstage antics (he once attempted to conduct a ritual to contact the ancients with understandably unsettling results!) and "ornery" personality.

Wanted in over a hundred Quadrants for various crimes and misdemeanours Shanks' somehow manages to always keep one step ahead of the law on his neverending tour of the universe (understandably as a result the membership of DEADHEAD is frequently changing as musicians either drop out or drop dead from fatigue or misuse of various recreational amusements!!)

DEADHEAD are famous for being "The second loudest band in the universe" the loudest being, of course the band of the Imperial Marines (well no one has yet dared to refute the point with them!)

DEADHEAD's brand of HeavyThrash is a strange concoction of ancient Solomani music updated with Imperial technology to form a most unusual and bowel threatening sound, various people are known to have died or suffered permanent physical impairment through attending DEADHEAD concerts, yet their popularity shows no signs of dimming.

DEADHEAD have release three collections of their "music", 1085's "Fall of the Hawks" a reference to the defeat of the Zhodani in the Fourth Frontier War, 1086's "Beer, Women and little Green things with antennae", and 1091's "Dark Star" which critics rate as their finest moment featuring as it does Shank's homage to his favourite drink "Got My Dog".

DEADHEAD will surely go down in Imperial History as one of the strangest, most irresponsible, most outrageous yet enduring musical acts ever, wether Shanks will continue to outrun the law and continue his "career" is unknown at this time.
