Daad Cluster

The Daad Cluster is an astrographic feature of Dagudashaag Sector. It is located at the center of the Kuriishe Subsector.

This is a cluster of eight systems and eleven stars.

History and Background

The cluster was named after the world which economically dominated it during the First Imperium. Daad, in the Third Imperium known as Larmai (Dagudashaag 0316), is a poor shadow of its former self following a major ecological catastrophe. The dominant systems in the cluster are now Kherse (Dagudashaag 3014) and Imsu (Dagudashaag 3114).

The two gateway systems for the cluster are Larmai and Umeeshe. Recently, the imposition of refueling licenses by Larmai's government has reduced its profile. The recently elected government of Umeeshe shrewdly allowed free refueling in the oceans of their planet, and discounted the cost of refined fuel at the downport. This has led to a small economic boom in their local industry.

Patrol cruisers from Vland Sector are sometimes encountered in the Daad Cluster, supplying the researchers at Amiikhuk and showing the flag.

Milieu 0

The Sylean Federation Scouts used their base at Kherse to range all over the cluster, preparing the local systems for contact. By the time the Imperium proper reached the region, trade was common with local worlds. However, piracy was a major obstacle to development, and an advanced naval base was established at Kherse, upgrading the existing Scout facilities. The base provided the Navy with the ability to operate throughout the cluster, supporting trade and commerce, and suppressing the pirates. As time passed, the high level of naval operations led to concerns as to whether sufficient fuel would be available for operations on a long term basis. Eventually an ice-mining colony was established at Cyrene (Dagudashaag 3013) to secure fuel for the base without forcing reliance on the newly integrated world of Imsu.
