Description[edit]

Yaoley Crater has a good High School and a number of high quality Primary and Middle schools. The founder's wife saw the education of the children of the workers as one of her prime interests, and this led to the continued emphasis on education that remains to this day. There is some talk of establishing a School of Mines in the crater, but this has not yet found official sanction.

Yaoley Crater is notorious for the broken rock of the region surrounding and underlying the crater itself. This has been a major factor in the construction of the town with the voids providing space for residences and workplaces - but with sealing those voids being a major issue. Under 3% of the stabilised tunnels are occupied - the remaining 97% being used for no particular purpose, or being earmarked for future expansion of the town.

History[edit]

Opened for iron mining in 83, the core of the town is still the iron asteroid that struck Sparks at a relatively low velocity quite late in its geological history.

Yaoley Crater became the central administrative hub for the construction of the Sparks Hyperloop - the first line running east and west from the town - and it has remained a major maintenance and transit hub ever since.
