Gold Reef is a community built into a seamount and specialising in growing seaweeds on sub-surface rafts trailed on cables from the community's upper surface. They are carefully placed so as to not block the little sunlight that makes it down to the denizens of the mount itself.
The community became famous in 300 when a child with significant, previously unknown, genetic adaptions for open-water swimming was born in the local hospital.
