The International Space Transport Association.
Description[edit]
A body that represents the providers of international space transport, provides a system-wide standard ticketing structure and certifies vessels as space-worthy and suitable for the carriage of passengers and freight. In this latter role, it acts as a gateway to gaining insurance on cargoes and for passengers. Uncertified ships will find procuring passengers and cargo difficult, and many jurisdictions will actively legislate against such irresponsible operators from carrying passengers in their controlled-airspace.
The existence of a standard ticket-pricing system does mean that price-competition is not possible, but quality competition is.
The following grades of interplanetary fare exist:
- Lift: Cr 100 (Effectively Ground to Orbit or Ground to Ground on the same body)
- Low: Cr 800
- Middle: Cr 2400
- High: Cr 4800
Fare structures for in-belt transfers are not fixed but are generally Cr100 for any journey of under 24 hours.
