Campaign:NHNE/Governments/Poseidon

There are 4 separate legal frameworks operating on Poseidon, and each ship, submarine, base or station adheres to one of those 4 frameworks. These frameworks are mostly concerned with inter-personal relationships.

1. Interstellar Framework
2. Law of the Sea Framework
3. Deep Oceans Framework
4. Independent Captains Framework

There are a number of inter-framework commonalities, the greatest of which is that with the exception of minerals extraction, any resource consumption must be shown to be sustainable. Minerals Extraction must be shown to be occurring in a way that minimises long-term environmental damage, and is not damaging or destroying unique ecologies. Ships crews are held collectively responsible for their actions and the ecological cost of their activities across generations - a principle that makes environmental interaction and change a fraught concept.
