Fleet English is the lingua-franca of the New Earth System. Almost everyone (99% of the New Earth System's population) speaks a version of it as their second language, if not their first.

History[edit]

Fleet English is derived from the mandatory language of the colonists that were dispatched from Sol headed for Alpha Centauri. Some states have eschewed Fleet English as a first language as a result of the dispersals that caused the breakup of the original colony into many states.

Additionally, two of the surviving vessels, Hope and Union, were mostly or partially carrying native speakers of versions of English.
