Aua

An herbivorous animal native to Kusyu.

Aua are the most prevalent livestock in Aslan Hierate space. Every part of a carcass is used -- for consumption, leather, and even dubious medicinal concoctions made from their horns and bones. Modern aua have been bred and genetically engineered to grow quickly, to thrive in a variety of environments, and to consume a wide range of vegetable matter.

A pitfall of aua farming is atekteia, large poisonous insects who lay their eggs in aua dung. The vermin spread along with the livestock herds, and now infest worlds across the galaxy.

Aua-hide clothing is a traditional garb of Aslan warriors, and used for everything from armour to cargo restraints to children's toys.

Locations[edit]

Worlds with large-scale aua farming include:

  • Kusyu
  • Tryaoke: In the lowlands of this world where the atmosphere is denser, Tryaokean Humans bred billions of aua, which they use for everything from a food source and leather to byproducts such as oil for lanterns.

Aua from the worlds of Hrorehe Subsector are famed throughout the Aslan Hierate for quality.

Trivia[edit]

On Khau, attempts by the Aslan to introduce the aua to the world failed rather miserably. The normally hardy beasts were unable to digest the native vegetation, and proved to be susceptible to several native viruses.
